Day 1 – Ho Chi Minh City-Chau Doc

Pick up at your hotel and leave Ho Chi Minh City heading south west to Chau Doc, on the Cambodian border, deep in the Mekong Delta. Transfer to hotel on arrival in Chau Doc. In the late afternoon drive up Sam Mountain to watch the sun set over the Cambodian border. Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 2 – Chau Doc-Can Tho

Early in the morning take a journey to Tra Su on an uneven road, 10km from Chau Doc. Take a short boat trip to Tra Su bird garden on arrival. There we can watch a photogenic scenery of mangrove forest with thousands of birds. Return to Chau Doc for a boat trip visiting the unique farms where fish are bred in wooden cages suspended under floating houses on the river. Continue by boat to visit a village of stilt houses belonging to the Cham minority where colourful traditional textiles are woven on old wooden looms. Return to dry land in time to leave Chau Doc for Can Tho via Thot Not, 45km to the north of Can Tho. Visit the bamboo basket-making hamlet of Long Thanh before continuing to the Thot Not Stork Sanctuary, where from a canopy, you can see thousands of egrets, herons and cormorants arrive to roost in the branches. Continue on to Can Tho and transfer to hotel on arrival. Overnight in Can Tho. (Breakfast)

* Note: The trip to Tra Su is good from May till Septemeber during when birds are available.

Day 3 – Can Tho-Vinh Long-Ho Chi Minh City

Early in the morning, take a boat trip on the Mekong River to visit the Cai Rang Floating Market, where hundreds of boats, sampans from Can Tho’s vicinities, gathering right on the river to cater and trade their agricutulral produce. In land visit the Binh Thuy Temple and the local fruit market. Leave Can Tho for Vinh Long. On arrival in Vinh Long visit the cottage industries of Cho Cua village. Visit a ceramic tile factory, a tofu and fish sauce factory, a blacksmith’s, a roof thatcher’s and a rice husking business. Then, take a boat trip to Binh Hoa Phuoc Island to visit an ancient house of Mr. Hai Kien, renovated by Japanese architects. Then, continue by boat to Cai Be in time for lunch at Xeo May Riverside Restaurant before returning to Ho Chi Minh City by road. Transfer to hotel on arrival in Ho Chi Minh City. (Breakfast, Lunch)
